They do decent work but are the stereotypical auto shop that up sells and always finds expensive “add-ons” above what is needed. To perform a diagnostic on a car that they’ve serviced prior was $250 on a couple basic issues. I will not be utilizing them for any additional auto repairs.
We are sorry that you feel this way. The methodology, we use, is to gather the information a customer is seeking (what is wrong with my car?), then giving choices as we did you how to proceed. In your case step one, once we diagnosed both your engine misfire/check engine light, and the engine rattling sound that your mechanic friend said was a timing chain but actually was/is a failing water pump, and the misfire a failed coil primarily due to overly worn spark plugs. The water pump replacement is straight forward and is what it is. For the misfire, you were offered to replace the individual coil and plug, the coil and all plugs, or all plugs and coils. This way you can potentially save money down the road, again your choice. We never try to upsell anyone. If asked we will offer an opinion on which way we recommend, but it is our belief that our job is to provide information, yours to decide how to proceed.
