About Du Fresne's Auto Repair
The Story of Du Fresne's Auto Service as told by Nancy Du Fresne Scheewe
DU FRESNE'S AUTO SERVICE, INC started in business December 11, 1968. Originally I was working as a bookkeeper for service stations. We purchased our first Shell station with $10,000 borrowed from my dad's credit union. Eventually, we had 4 Shell Stations. Our growing children both worked at our stations for many years... first cleaning up, then pumping gas, doing the books and finally managing a couple of the stations.
When Shell Oil Co. pulled out of the Portland Market, we had owned an old 2 bay shell station. We remodeled, turning it into a six bay Auto Repair Facility with a drive through Espresso. We wanted to stay in the same area, keeping our long time loyal customers.
We have seen many changes in the automotive industry. We started out doing everything by pencil. Now we have modernized the office and shop employing the power of computers. We have 6 computers supporting the management of the business as well as performing the hi-tech automotive analysis and repair. This equipment helps us do the repair professionally and correctly on the newest models the first time. My employees are always attending seminars, keeping up-to-date with current automotive changes and best practices. Our shop is an authorized DEQ-CERTIFIED VEHICLE REPAIR FACILITY. To qualify, a facility must have the correct equipment and the mechanics must have passed certain tests.
A little about each of our employees
TECHNICIAN
Marco has been with us for 17+ years as shop foreman. He is ASE Certified under car Specialist. He can communicate with any of our Spanish speaking customers. For some odd reason, our older women just love Marco. He is married with 4 children. As a family they love road trips and barbecuing. Marco also plays in a heavy metal band.
John Elmore
Introducing John Elmore to DuFresne’s Auto Service. John came to us from California. John became a master tech because of his love for cars and has been doing so since 2001. He loves keeping up with the new technology of the automotive industry. He loves everything automotive as long as it is younger than him. No love for the older cars. You can find him watching Formula 1 or Gt racing when he can. In his spare time you will find John tinkering around with electronics. His goal for 2018 is to learn Frisbee Golf. John has been married to his lovely wife since 2001 and has 2 children.
Jacob Wodtke
Jacob started with DuFresne's in 2023. He has a rare love of everything automotive, from air cooled VW to big diesel trucks. At the age of 3 he took his dads motorcycle apart. At the age 7 when his dad decided to sell it he had to put it back together. When Jacob isn't at work he enjoys taking his big boy toys out in the woods.
MARKETING MANAGER
Tee Du Fresne, is our Marketing Manager. She is my daughter and she came back to the repair shop in 2003 after being a finance manager for Toyota. She brings her finance and marketing expertise to our business. Automobiles have been a big part of her life. She would rather be ripping up the dunes and "popping a wheelie" than anything else. She loves her boat and dog, Mr. Otis.
CSR / BARISTA
Bridget Bice is our CSR/Barista. She has two boys who takes up all her time. She loves to crochet and sew when her boys let her. She is originally from Anchor Point Alaska, where she enjoyed hiking, hunting, and fishing.
Preston Fowler
He is a long time resident of the Beaverton area. Graduated from Sunset high school and stayed in the area. He brings his 40+ years of service writing to DuFresne’s. What a plus for us! Preston is a Avid sports fan. Favorite teams: Portland Trail Blazers , Seattle Mariners and Dallas Cowboys. Preston loves to try new restaurants so when you meet him tell him your favorite restaurant is. Preston has actually wrote service at several dealerships in the Beaverton Area so don’t be surprised if you have met him in the past.
