I have been going to Du Fresne's for years and for several of those years I thought the service was quite exceptional. If you use any mechanic there, have it be Marcos! However, a new managerial hire at the front desk has proven to be not only be not trustworthy, but also sexist. For example, I took my car into the shop and needed oil change, etc. Upon picking it up, he told me after further inspection that my car needed new spark plugs, to change the transmission fluid and brake fluid. As a responsible car owner, I keep all of my files to not only increase resale value but also mitigate unnecessary payments. When I thanked them for their service but stated I needed to look through my files for dates of maintenance, the front desk rep who manages the mechanics, immediately yelled at me. Telling me no matter what my files stated that the service was warranted. I explained I was on a budget and wanted to make sure, since the bill was very large. Then he looked down at my wedding ring and stated well clearly your husband can afford it with that ring. And then continued to insult me by assuming that I didn't have a job and I know nothing about finances. For the record, I am an equal contributor in my household and was appalled by the gesture. When I looked through my records I found that my spark plugs had another 90K miles, my transmission fluid another 80K, and my brake fluid another 8 months. I am appalled and dismayed by the level of treatment I received and would not recommend this company to anyone. It is a shame since the older woman who runs the business is very kind, and has done an incredible job maintaining the place. Sometimes, it takes just one lousy employee to treat someone so horrifically to ruin a customer's experience and never return.
Nicole, we are saddened to read this review and hear of such a poor experience at our shop. We stand behind the services that we suggested to your vehicle, including the spark plugs, brake flush, and transmission service. These were all showing normal signs of wear which indicated service was needed. We would like to apologize for the ring comment that was made as we would never assume the financial or job status of our customers.
