My '99 Subaru Outback alternator went bad last week. My car stopped about 100 yards away from the repair facility. Carlos kindly provided an external battery and I was able to arrive the shop. I dropped off my car on Friday morning and they completed the repair before 2pm. I am impressed with their fast & friendly service. I took out one star because of the cost of the repair. The alternator repair cost is higher than my expectation. I had a similar alternator replacement on my other vehicle in California about an year ago and the cost was a couple of hundreds lower than their charge. They charged $35 diagnostic fee and $11 jumping fee in addition to the alternator replacement fee. I understand the diag fee if I don't repair my car in their shop but the diag fee is usually waived if I repaired my car there. Overall, I am happy with their service minus the extra fee/cost.
Mr. Kim, I am sorry we disappointed you.. Let me help clarify some of the issues. When you called in, we told you to have it towed, but you decided to drive it. It stalled out 1/2 mile down the street. Marco went down with a jump box This was beyond our services. We normally would have it towed. This saved you at least $75.00 at no charge to you.. We had an okay on services before ever doing the work. We replaced your alternator with a DENSO. This is always the preferred Alternator to use. They are all rebuilt now, but Denso may be called a rebuilt but most of the time It’s a new one. Our diag charge is always to make sure what the problem is This fee is never refunded. It is always an additional charge., especially since we have only seen this vehicle once The reason for charging your battery, is so we can check all of the charging system. Hopefully this answers your questions and puts you at ease for your car repairs.
